    James 2:14-26

    If a man told you that a beautiful garden had been planted in his plot of land, yet after time had passed there is not even the smallest green shoot starting up from the soil, there are only a few possibilities;

    1. The seed that was planted is bad or dead.
    2. The man is lying or mistaken.

    What then would be your advice to this man? Would you complement his beautiful garden year after year? Tell him to rely on the day that the garden was planted as proof of a future harvest?

    Both may be easier for you, but when winter comes they will starve. No, they must go to the seed and examine it, begin anew, that’s their only hope for the future.

    Our Hope

    If I were in a sinking ship, far from shore, my automatic reaction would be to grab for a life preserver. That’s where my only hope for life would lie.

    In the same vein…

    During times such as these, don’t feel ashamed for the quick prayer, “Lord, come quickly”. That’s your only hope beyond this life. No matter the course of this world, if you have the Life Preserver, Jesus Christ, then you are secure.

    That being said, Lord, come quickly, but please allow those who don’t know you the time that they need.
