  • How Christians Treat Others

    1 Thessalonians 5:14-15

14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.

    Brethren – Believers

Unruly – Against Order- Tell them to stop, enact church discipline.

Feeble Minded – Discouraged, Suffering – Encourage, spend time with, pray for.

Weak – Financial, Physical, Spiritual – Support in whatever way we are able to.

All Men – Believers and Unbelievers – Have patience and do good towards all.

Render Evil for Evil – Don’t resort to tit for tat actions.

Which is Good – We are to be a force of good in this world. Good doesn’t always satisfy our emotions, but it satisfies God. “Vengeance is mine, I will repay” To seek retribution for evil done towards us is to usurp God’s position.

  • A Quote from Amma Syncletica (250 A.D.)

“In the beginning there is struggle and a lot of work for those who come near to God. But after that there is indescribable joy. It is just like building a fire: at first it is smoky and your eyes water, but later you get the desired result. Thus we ought to light the divine fire in ourselves with tears and effort.”
